About Green Spring Extension Master Gardeners
Green Spring Extension Master Gardeners (GSEMG) are trained volunteers who, through their work at Green Spring Gardens, promote environmentally sound horticulture practices and educate the community on sustainable landscaping and gardening techniques.
The Green Spring Extension Master Gardeners program has been an integral part of Green Spring Gardens since its inception in 2002. It has trained more than 600 Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Master Gardeners to educate community members and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices throughout Fairfax County.
Our membership participates annually with a minimum of 20 hours of service and 8 hours of continuing education. However, opportunities abound for GSEMGs who would like to do more. We offer many types of activities that range from working in one of our community gardens to assisting the public via virtual or in-person help desks, providing garden talks, adopting a library, and a variety of specialty committees for publicity as well as training and development. There is truly something for everyone to enjoy.
