About Green Spring Gardens
Green Spring Gardens is a must-visit park, a year-round gold mine of information
and inspiration for the home gardener. It's an outdoor classroom, a museum, and a national historic site. Its mission is to connect the community to natural and
cultural resources through horticulture, education, and stewardship.
The park has a wooded stream valley with ponds, a naturalistic native plant garden, more than 20 thematic demonstration gardens, a greenhouse, a plant shop, two gift shops, a historic house, and a horticulture reference library. The park encompasses 31 acres and is operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority with the assistance of various nonprofit organizations including the Green Spring Extension Master Gardeners and the Friends of Green Spring Gardens.
The Gardens feature boxwood hedging, roses, and perennial as well as annual
borders. The park also has a tropical greenhouse, a wooded stream valley with
